2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. oleo
1 egg (separated)
2/3 c. crushed corn flakes
5 c. apples, sliced
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
bit of milk

Mix flour, salt and sugar. Cut in oleo. Put egg yolk and enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Stir into the flour/sugar mixture. Separate in half. Roll 1/2 to cover a jelly roll pan. Cover the crust with corn flakes, then apples, cinnamon and sugar. Roll the other 1/2 of the crust and cover...pinch sides like with pie. Beat egg white and brush over crust. Bake at 400 deg. for 40 minutes. Cool. Drizzle with a glaze of 1 c. pwd. sugar and 2 T. lemon juice. YUmmmY!

APPLE SQUARES




Base:
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 3/4 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. melted oleo

Syrup:
1 c. white sugar
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla
1 c. boiling water
1/4 c. oleo

Mix syrup ingredients together in a pot and bring to a boil, then lower temp and cook until somewhat thickened.

Mix base ingredients together into a crumb mixture and press 1/2 of it into a 9x13 pan. Cover with peeled and sliced up apples. Pour thickened syrup over the apples, and top with the remaining crumb mixture. Bake 30 mins. at 350 deg.

APPLE BARS



2 1/2 c. flour                                           1 1/2 cups applesauce
2 c. sugar                                                1/2 c. water
1 1/2 tsp baking soda                                1/2 c. oleo                                
1 1/2 tsp salt                                            2 eggs
1/4 tsp baking powder                              1 c. raisins
3/4 tsp cinnamon                                     1/2 c. walnuts (optional)
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp allspice

Heat oven to 350 deg. Grease and flour a 13x9x2 inch pan. Beat all in a large bowl on low speed, scraping bowl, for 30 seconds. Beat on high speed for 3 mins.  Pour into pan. Bake till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean--about 1 hour. Top with ice cream or whipped cream when serving.
